There are moments in our walk with God where we sense His leading, but we cannot fully explain it.
We may not know where He is taking us. We may not understand the timing, the direction, or the quiet stirring within our hearts. Yet we know He is near. We know He is moving.
As the Wind Blows was written from the words of Jesus in John 3:8:
"The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear its sound, but cannot tell where it comes from and where it goes. So is everyone who is born of the Spirit."
These words can be very comforting or very challenging at times. The wind cannot be held, controlled, or fully understood. We may hear it, feel it, and see the evidence of where it has moved, but we cannot command its direction.
So it is with the Holy Spirit.
He moves in ways we do not always expect. Sometimes His leading is clear and strong. Other times it is gentle, quiet, and almost hidden. We may only sense a small stirring within the heart, a quiet invitation to trust, to wait, to let go, or to follow.
This song is a gentle prayer of surrender to the unseen movement of the Holy Spirit.
It is about learning to trust the Lord when His leading is quiet. It is about following Him even when the path is not yet clear. It is about yielding to the breath of God and allowing Him to draw the heart into places it has not been before.
There are also seasons where the road before us feels too difficult to walk. Times when we feel weak, uncertain, weary, or afraid. We may look at what lies ahead and feel that we do not have the courage to go there.
And sometimes surrender is not a beautiful, easy thing. Sometimes it is simply saying, "Lord, I don't know how to walk this road, but I still want to follow You."
We may not feel brave. We may not understand what He is doing. We may only have enough strength for the next small step.
But even then, we can trust Him, because He is the One leading us.
There is a quiet choice in the heart of this song: to say yes to the Lord again. To choose trust. To choose obedience. To choose to follow where the Spirit leads.
"As the wind blows,
So You move.
Where You lead me,
I will go."
May this piece become a quiet place of prayer for you.
May it help still the noise, soften the heart, and turn your attention again to the One who leads with such gentleness.
Even when we cannot see the way ahead, we can trust Jesus who leads His children by His Spirit.
